Daily Chores of Life at Camp Hope

PT Progress despite Haitian Heat

Today was another hot day in Haiti. There was no breeze and the air was sweltering. Even so, we had group therapy this morning followed by a regular PT clinic day. The PT team is tired, but pleased with the work of the week.

You all know how much sports mean to the people of Camp Hope. Since we are winding down in Oct, I really want to leave a gift for all. I am hoping that we can come up with uniforms for soccer, basketball and girls volleyball plus soccer shoes (I have the sizes needed).

Update on Susan and Danny

Susan has been seeing as many patients as she can a day–she reports about 25 patients daily. Junior and Retha have been assisting. They cut off the patient sign-up after the first 25 due to Susan being the only PT at Camp Hope this week. Danny has been working at the warehouse. Susan is handling the patients with their needs beautifully and is referring them out to the hospital for x-rays and other needs. She got “Drama Girl” :-) a shoe lift and has been using E-stim on her. Susan reports that she is now able to dorsiflex and is lacking just 5 degrees. Walking with a cane but progressing well! Great Job–Susan and Danny! Thank You!
