PT clinic waiting room

Waiting for treatment in the Camp Hope PT Clinic

The PT clinic was quiet today. By 1 pm, we had seen all the pateints who had arrived for therapy, and I had time to start going through our case-load to identify people who have not come to therapy in a while. This is going to be a long slow process (going tent to tent), but will help us identify how people are doing!

It is great to have Kirstin, Mathieu, and Josh here working in the PT tent. They are hard workers, and we are working well as a team!!! Mathieu is doing a great job teaching the “rehab class,” and the participants are starting to understand joint movements. It is fun to watch them grasp new concepts and learn about the body.

There is a boy, David (12 years old), who likes to hang out at the PT clinic with Josh (since both are natively fluent in Spanish). Yesterday I asked David if he was going to be my protector when Josh returns to the US (Josh leaves on August 13), and he shyly said nothing & looked away. Today, David told Josh that he shouldn’t leave me in Haiti. Josh asked why not? And David said, “Because a dog never leaves his bone!” (“Un perro no se deja su hueso!”) WHAT is he saying about me!?!

Hope everyone is doing well! I miss you all!
