JOIN US!!! Hands of Light in Action is headed to Minot, ND to assist with the flooding disaster August 6-14. Anyone interested, please contact us at handsoflightinaction@gmail.com​. I am taking a van to ND leaving August 5 in afternoon. We will stay over night in Lake City, MN at my Mom and Dad’s home :-) I can take 6 passengers. We will hook up a U haul with all our disaster supplies and head out to Minot, ND. Cost–cheap–gas and food.

Wind storm damage

Today we experienced a frighteningly large wind storm that ravaged Camp Hope. Camp residents were extremely frightened, remembering their world crumbling around them only 8 months ago, as their tents began to be severely mangled. There was literally no place for anyone to escape the dusty whirlwinds. We grabbed children & wrapped our arms around crying mothers, leading them away from areas where flying debris was most likely to begin to come loose in the camp. The wind storm lasted about 30 minutes, much of that a time of extreme chaos. And then we began helping residents, many of whom were patients, to return to their tents and survey the damage. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but the residents have a long weekend ahead of them repairing their tents and reorganizing their things. Update to Family & Friends

Dear family & friends,
Weekends are such a nice change of pace here in Fond Parisien. After a week filled with physical therapy treatments, hospital transportation coordination, patient follow-ups and planning for transition of patient care after our departure in October, it is nice to do some different & even relaxing things on Saturday &

Going back for trip #3!

I’m heading back to Haiti! For anyone that I haven’t told personally yet, I’ve decided to postpone the education a bit & return to the rewarding experience of a lifetime assisting those in need in Fond Parisien.
I’ll be back starting Aug 28 until the end date in Oct. I cordially invite any & all who are interested to get in touch about joining us!
